Level Assessments

Learn what your team can do, and where they can improve.

Via our MyLesson system, participants can take a 4-part, multi-skill assessment, graded and evaluated by our team of certified invigilators.

The assessment begins with an online, multiple-choice reading and grammar evaluation, followed by a listening section, a short business-related analytical writing segment and a speaking element. All sections are done online, via the system.

Written work and recorded answers are then sent to our invigilators to assess the level and abilities of your team members. Upon completion, a detailed report is sent to your company.

This assessment is useful for initial level placement, as well as future hires. No longer will questions remain in your mind about what your applicants can do in their roles. You will have evidence as to their abilities that can assist in the hiring process.

Our 360-Degree System

We call it a 360-degree system because it considers all sides of language acquisition, circling the learning with all the tools he/she needs to be successful. Just one module, live classes for example, is great BUT without the support of the other modules, it isn’t enough. We need you to surrounded, engulfed by your new language to fully learn it.

  • Acquisition and Practice

Here, in our Live Classes, the language and skills are learned and practiced in real ways to ensure participants can understand and speak. The live lessons can be online, or in-office and are designed to deliver the most important and relevant information to the participants.

  • Realizing and Assessing

Self study allows participants to see what they can do when not directly guided. They take a mental inventory on what they have grasped, and what still needs to be worked on.

  • Bringing Context

The shadowing system is the best way to bring real context to learning. Context is valuable for language learning because it is the best way to encourage retention. Consider a baby learning their mother tongue; the only reason they remember vocabulary is because it is shown to them, not translated or explained in other words.

  • Building Confidence

Without confidence, no one can speak a foreign language. Being able to speak to your peers in an autonomous and confidential manner through our system, allows learners to truly practice their skills, without fear of being wrong. That fear is what stops so much progress. Our system takes away that aspect of fear.

  • Making Connections and Providing Value

Training camps are a great way to practice your language in a real setting, but more importantly, this is where we connect our new skills to our work. Participants see exactly what they can do, in real life. It’s an incredible value-add and the connects are valuable as well.

  • Support and Development

Being supported by our team, and in contact with your trainers, provides participants with a highly motivational environment. We don’t let people slack and forget their goals. The constant contact was designed to further develop participants when they aren’t in physical classes, and the motivation is a positive externality.

  • Learn what your team can do, and how they can improve

Our Level assessment module is available for both active participants and to those companies who wish to have us aid them in their hiring/promotion processes. Participants can gauge their own levels multiple times through our easy-to-use system, allowing them to track their own progress and see what they can do.

FAQs

What is included the assessment?
There are multiple-choice, grammar or vocabulary questions, as well as reading, writing and a speaking section.
How is the assessment done?
It’s all online, via our MyLesson system. Even the speaking is done there via a recorded answer that is then sent to the trainer for evaluation.
How will I learn my level?
If you’re an active participant, your level will be reported in your profile. If you are using our system via your company, usually you and your H.R. team will be given this information.
Is the test accurate?
Yes. The trainers are highly standardized, so they report correctly each time. However, if something does go wrong during your test, or something happens that affects your performance, sure it could show a wrong result. You can always retake it though.
How can I do the assessment?
We do a standard level assessment before you begin any programs with Golingua. You’ll be sent a link and a password. Once you’re in the program, you’ll do another version of the assessment as you pass through each level.
How do Hiring Assessments work?
When your company makes an agreement with Golingua, you’ll have your own link to our test system. For each new participant, they will create a login using the link and then be directed to the assessment. It takes about 35 minutes to complete. The results will be sent to your designated H.R. team member. For these assessments, we don’t just send you the level, but a detailed explanation about what exactly that person can do, and notes from the trainer that evaluated the speaking.
Can people cheat on the assessment?
We do a few things to avoid cheating on the assessment. First, the speaking section would be quite challenging to cheat on. The question appears on the screen and you are immediately required to speak your response. In addition, all free writing sections are checked for plagiarism. Additionally, as the test is online, you may ask participants to take the test at your offices, to avoid them having some one there to help them.
